Contemplata aliis Tradere

A meagre contribution to the mission and work of the Order of Preachers: my reflections, thoughts, ideas and the occasional rant on matters mainly theological, philosophical and ecclesiastical, drawn primarily from my reading and experience of life and the world. Striving to be always Catholic, firmly Christian and essentially Dominican, flavoured with dashes of Von Balthasar.

World Youth Day 2005 & 2008!

This year's WYD begins on 15 August in historic and beautiful Cologne. The Dominican church in that city, San Andreas, is shown on the left.

John Allen Jr reports this week that the next WYD will be held in Sydney, Australia under the auspices of George Cardinal Pell. I can think of no more beautiful a city for such an event and I hope it will bring new vigour to Catholicism in that nation, especially among the young.

As the Holy Father has asked us to pray for the success of World Youth Day this month of August, I humbly ask Our Lady of the Rosary to safeguard all the young people travelling to Cologne, bless their time there with Pope Benedict XVI and may she lead them and all young people to Jesus Christ, ever present in the Eucharist.

If you have not seen this already, check out the Juventutem site: thousands of young Catholics attached to the Tridentine Mass will be going to WYD 2005, a truly ground-breaking development which bodes well for unity in the Church!
