Contemplata aliis Tradere

A meagre contribution to the mission and work of the Order of Preachers: my reflections, thoughts, ideas and the occasional rant on matters mainly theological, philosophical and ecclesiastical, drawn primarily from my reading and experience of life and the world. Striving to be always Catholic, firmly Christian and essentially Dominican, flavoured with dashes of Von Balthasar.

WWJD?

A few years ago, the WWJD tagline was all the rage... it challenged us to place Jesus in our current situation and ask ourselves how we thought He might act and so imitate Him. I read this chilling article in the Guardine Online today.

Do read it too.

And then, ask yourself, not so much What Would Jesus Do, but what would I do in that situation? It's rather like a modern re-telling of the parable of the Good Samaritan. Which character would you and I be?

What a horrifying experience. I hope and pray that I would react as the author did. In a way it is good to read about these situations so that we are more mentally prepared should any such thing come our way.

What a disturbing story on so many levels -- from the people who left without helping to call 911 to the man who refused to offer his jacket so it wouldn't get messy. Chilling.
